Surabhi Rastogi is principal associate and is heading Banking & Finance and Media & Entertainment practices at the Delhi office of MVKini. She also sphereheads Practice Development and is responsible for strategic strengthening and taking growth initiatives for the firm. She uniquely combines legal insight with strong management traits to drive business growth. Surabhi completed her Master’s in Commerce in 2004 and graduated in law in 2008 from Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut. She is members at Bar Council of Delhi and Supreme Court Bar Association.
Surabhi is a dynamic and seasoned professional and brings along over 16 years of diversified experience of working as legal advisor and litigator at law firms, at a chamber of a senior 'Advocate on Record' in Supreme Court, and independently. She has also worked as legal consultant (for franchise establishment) to "Nakshatra brands Ltd." the diamond jewellery brand. She has been involved in drafting, negotiating, and vetting a wide array of contracts & agreements, advisory & compliance management for establishment of a franchise / start-up, Intellectual property rights Laws (Trademark & copyright), alternate dispute resolution, criminal, and matrimonial litigation as well as taking initiatives for client engagement & creating new business opportunities. Surabhi has assisted a wide- range of clients from individuals and corporate entities to MNCs and international law firms in the UK and the US. She has appeared and handled matters before various judicial, quasi-judicial forums, Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, Hon’ble High Courts of Delhi, Bombay and Allahabad, District Courts and tribunals.
Surabhi is passionate about and finds great satisfaction in tackling critical challenges at her work and resolving them with meticulous precision. She has earned a reputation amongst clients for her prompt responses and effective handling of their concerns. She builds strong relationships by working closely with both clients and lawyers at the firm to align on legal needs and professional aspirations. She has an inventive approach and has successfully implemented several strategic initiatives that have significantly contributed to the firm's growth, from conducting webinars and firm’s (previous law firm) first one day conference on “International Arbitration” in Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi, in collaboration with SEPC (Services & Export Promotion Council; A body under “Ministry of Commerce & Industry”) graced by who’s who of the industry (Hon’ble Judges of Supreme Court of India & High Court of Delhi and leading international arbitration practitioners of India) to organising the first Founder’s Day for MV Kini Law Firm, a two days residential event in Mumbai to name a few. She has travelled across India and internationally for client engagement and to represent the firms in several conferences.
Prior to joining MV Kini Law firm, Surabhi has worked with Draft n Craft Law Firm for two separate terms- from “Jul 2008 - Apr 2013” & “May 2021 – Apr 2023”, during which alongwith assisting existing clients, she also established new practice areas under Media & Entertainment Laws (Trademark & Copyright), corporate laws, and also developed firm’s client base in London for it’s LPO practices.
Surabhi was Legal Consultant to “Nakshatra Brands Limited”- a Famous Jewellery brand (under the flagship of Gitanjali Group) for their franchise establishment in North India region, from May 2013 – Oct 2014, where she was responsible for drafting and vetting franchise agreements, settle all disputes between the ‘franchisee’ & the ‘organisation’ out of the court through mediation, conducting commercial due diligence of proposed showroom, generating various reports for ‘validation and approval of a franchisee profile’ and ensuring all compliances pertaining to the Franchise agreements while also conducting training programs for the sales & marketing teams covering various legal aspects.
For the period of Nov 2014 - Apr 2021 Surabhi was working independently for individual and corporate clients based in India and the U.S., while also assisting a renowned Advocate-on-Record Lt. Sh. M.P. Shorawala (having 30 years of practice and his own chamber at Supreme Court of India) in Supreme Court of India, on various criminal, civil, matrimonial & high-profile matters during “Aug 2017 - Apr 2021”. She has represented several clients at Supreme Court Mediation Centre and was well recognised for getting relief to her clients in most of the matters.
