Mittal is partner at Mumbai Office. She has been the Departmental Head of the Debt Recovery Tribunal (DRT) and Debt Recovery Appellate Tribunal (DRAT) practice since November 2011.
Mittal joined MVKini in November 2002 as an accounts assistant while simultaneously pursuing her LL.B. degree. She began her litigation career at the firm by representing, conducting and defending cases of Nationalized Banks/ Financial Institutions at Debt Recovery Tribunal Mumbai and Vashi. Since then, she has independently handled several complex and high-stake recovery matters, including Consortium Original Applications involving claims exceeding ₹100 Crores and obtained various decrees before Debt Recovery Tribunal, Ahmedabad and Mumbai. Mittal has also defended Banks in Securitization Application before DRT and thereby aided Banks in recovery by obtaining order for physical possession of the property.
Derived from her effective and remarkable contribution, the firm was honoured with the ‘Highest Litigation DRT Filing Award’ by the DRT Bar Association, commemorating a decade of impactful litigation in Mumbai. Mittal received high appreciation from the Presiding Officer of DRT Ahmedabad for her detailed and persuasive arguments in a ₹2200 Crore Consortium O.A. matter—commendation he noted as unmatched during his tenure.
Mittal is also proficient in transactional advisory work. She has been instrumental in drafting and vetting key banking documents such as Consortium Agreements, RFQ and RFP bid documents, Facility Agreements, Escrow Agreements, and a wide range of finance and security documents. She regularly acts as Lender’s Legal Counsel for public sector banks.
