Abhay is a Partner at Mumbai Office. He completed his B.A.LL. B (Hons.) from University College of Law, Karnataka in 2008 and obtained his LL.M. degree in Litigation and International Dispute Resolution from The George Washington University School of Law.
Abhay has extensive experience of 17 years in corporate advisory, commercial litigation, and arbitration. He has been involved in advising various clients on Alternate Investment Funds (AIF), International Rupee Drawing Agreements and other corporate issues. Abhay regularly represents both private and government entities as lead counsel in ad-hoc and institutional arbitration proceedings and is well-versed in handling high-stakes legal issues involving infrastructure contracts and cross-border commercial disputes. Abhay has been actively involved in arbitrations and dispute settlements for clients like the Shipping Corporation of India, Air India and ONGC.
Abhay regularly appears before the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) and the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) on behalf of financial institutions and has been actively representing statutory authorities like the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Public Works Department (PWD) before the National Green Tribunal (NGT) in environmental litigation.
Earlier in his career, Abhay served as in-house counsel with Reliance ADAG in Mumbai, where he was involved in advising on takeovers, joint ventures, and strategic litigation planning. He also brings international legal experience from his time with Tata America International Corporation in New York (a subsidiary of Tata Consultancy Services), where he worked on IT infrastructure contracts, overseas company incorporations, legal due diligence, and cross-border joint venture structuring.
Abhay’s multi-jurisdictional experience, combined with his nuanced understanding of regulatory frameworks and commercial realities, enables him to deliver effective and pragmatic legal solutions to his clients.
